How often do your thoughts hold you back? I know that my mind often tells me things that are not true, that I cannot do, how difficult a task is, or just stuck in well worn groove. When I listen to those thoughts I am defeated even before I begin. When I take the time to quiet my mind (aka: monkey mind) through meditation, yoga, running, quad ride, nature, I find I have the ability to take the first step, roll out my yoga mat, let go of the negative thoughts. We all have the capacity to release the self-defeating spiral of thoughts that sometimes seize the brain. It may take some quiet time, letting go of thoughts and focusing on the breath, a prayer, a mantra. As the quiet settles in, tension and anxiety let go and we can experience gratitude, joy, serenity.
